RESULTS FROM THE IDC PRO FINAL 2023 AT JAPFEST, MONDELLO PARK
IDC Japfest Podium.
12,000 people came to witness the epicness of Japfest and the IDC final.
To say it delivered would be an understatement. It will go down as one of the best event finals Mondello has ever seen.
Battles were decided by minute differences and the level of driving was off the charts.
The hunger to win this event in front of the huge home crowd was evident, and drivers were putting everything on the line in an effort to stay in the fight.
One by one they were defeated, and when the smoke cleared there were four left.
4th, Tomás Kiely :
Tomas looked like he was going to go all the way, but a suspected power steering issue in the semi-final with James Deane, ended his run in the gravel.
3rd, Duane McKeever:
Duane de-beaded in his battle with Jack Shanahan in the other semi-final, which put him in the battle for third with Tomas Kiely. Duane got the win due to his better proximity through the higher-scoring section Clips 1 to 4.
Final, James Deane v @Jack Shanahan:
This was always going to be epic, and it didn't disappoint, after both runs were finished practically nothing separated them, but the Judges felt Jack timed his initiation perfectly and was slightly closer through the higher scoring Clips 1 to 3, the rest of the runs were practically identical.
This was a fitting conclusion to the 2023 Irish Drift Championship, overall a great year, and with stars being born, Japfest 2024 could be interesting..
